OUR VIEW

The Barbara McDowell Social Justice Center sees almost daily actions by the Trump Administration that trample on civil rights and contravene core principles of social justice, as exemplified by what has occurred in Minneapolis. The Center believes that it has an obligation to record and report upon such actions to "bear witness" to preserve the historical record and to speak out publicly on these issues. Several websites exist to serve as a repository of the Administration's actions, statements and plans, including the comprehensive "Trump Action Tracker," which lists over 2,300 separate Administration actions (over 400 of which weaken civil rights).

The Center has spoken out publicly on several of these issues, including submitting public comments to the Administration's proposed rules on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and Public Charge Regulations. Going forward, the Center will continue to report on and speak out in this space on those actions by the Administration that in "OUR VIEW" impact civil rights and social justice.
